Ratliff has enjoyed playing for Ryan - Jay Ratliff left Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins because of a knee injury. Did somebody fall on it, a reporter asked. "About three somebodies," he said. It didn't keep Ratliff out of the game for long. He's enjoying this season, and playing for new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, too much to stay away. "I'm not going to lie. This year, it's just been fun," the Dallas Cowboys' veteran nose tackle said Monday in the locker room at Valley Ranch, where he chatted with reporters about his season, playing for Ryan (who he said is head coaching material) and his own emerging role as a team leader. READ MORE Move into first doesn't change team's priorities - About the same time the Cowboys' chartered flight arrived in Dallas following their 27-24 overtime victory against the Washington Redskins, former Texas Longhorns quarterback Vince Young was leading the Philadelphia Eagles on a game-winning touchdown drive against the division leading New York Giants, putting the Cowboys into a first-place tie in the NFC East. Coach Jason Garrett and the Cowboys (6-4) greeted their new-found status with the same focus that has helped them win three games in a row for the first time since 2009, and four of their past five. Garrett got off the plane and headed for the team's Valley Ranch training complex where he and the coaches pulled an all-night cram session to prepare for Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game against the 3-7 Miami Dolphins. READ MORE Texans Might Not Sign Back-Up, May Have Worked Out Chase Clement - Gary Kubiak said today that the Texans might not sign one of the four that they worked out. I’ve also found reports that Chase Clement from the UFL worked out. Matt Leinart is boosted by arguably a better run game and defense than Caleb Hanie and Tyler Palko have. With Andre Johnson returning to the lineup this week, he has undeniably the best receiver of the quarterbacks. READ MORE Houston Texans: Previewing the Texans Road to the Playoffs - So the bye week is over and now comes the part of the season the Texans have struggled with for years November and December. It is Texans-esque to blow these last games of the season by very small margins, but this year our schedule is a lot easier. Two or three years ago with a back up QB playing, our three remaining division games would make our playoffs hopes dim. We have a new team now in 2011 with the best defense and run game, a solid offensive line, and we have the best WR in the league back to play for us. So now it is time to analyze the Texans six remaings games. READ MORE

Notes and quotes from a 4-1 win over Edmonton - The Stars broke a 5-game losing streak in which they were outscored 21-4 by defeating the Edmonton Oilers, 4-1, Monday at American Airlines Center. Four different players scored for the Stars from four different lines _ Toby Petersen, Steve Ott, Michael Ryder and Radek Dvorak. READ MORE Stars get back in win column with solid effort - Monday afternoon Vancouver businessman Tom Gaglardi was introduced as the new owner of the Dallas Stars. On Monday night, Gaglardi’s team reintroduced themselves to the win column, snapping a five-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at American Airlines Center. “There were a few of us at the press conference today. It was kind of emotional,” said Stars forward Steve Ott. “To see a new owner have belief in us, to know that we are going to continue to build the Dallas Stars and this organization, and to get a big win for him, it all added up to a heck of a day.” With Gaglardi on hand, the Stars rolled out a solid 60 minute effort, limiting the Oilers, who had torched the Chicago Blackhawks for nine goals Saturday night, to just 18 shots on goal. Nathan agrees to two-year deal with Texas - Addition of experienced closer bumps Feliz to rotation. The Rangers, having gained a sense of what it might take to re-sign C.J. Wilson, have veered off in a different direction when it comes to putting together their pitching staff for 2012. Texas has agreed to a two-year, $14.5 million deal with free-agent reliever Joe Nathan to be its closer in 2012. At the same time, the Rangers announced that closer Neftali Feliz will move into the rotation next year. "We're looking at this as two acquisitions," general manager Jon Daniels said on Monday night. "We're getting a guy with big-time makeup, big-time pedigree and big-time stuff in Joe Nathan and also moving one of the best arms in professional baseball to the rotation. This is a move that we have thought about for last two years, but the timing had to be right, and we feel the timing is right now. We feel Neftali has a chance to be a big-time starter sooner than later." READ MORE Dazzling Dozen: Nelson Cruz's grand slam - We're down to the final four of our Dazzling Dozen and all of these, frankly, could have earned the No. 1 spot. So sit back and enjoy as we head into the stretch drive. No. 4: Nelson Cruz hits walk-off grand slam in ALCS Game 2 vs. Detroit. It's one of those hits that will make any Rangers film or highlight package for the rest of the franchise's existance. Nelson Cruz did what players dream of in the backyard or on little league fields everywhere. He hit a home run in extra innings in front of a crowd of 50,000-plus fans to give his team a big victory and help them on the way to another World Series appearance. But let's back up a minute. The Rangers went into the seventh inning of Game 2 down 3-2 to the Tigers, who were attempting to even the series at one game apiece and take home-field advantage away. Max Scherzer was still in the game when the seventh inning started and he got ahead of Cruz 1-2. But Cruz turned on the next pitch, tying the game with the solo shot. READ MORE Ed Wade's future in limbo - Changes appear to be coming soon for the Astros. When new owner Jim Crane addressed the media last week once his deal was approved by MLB, Crane said some baseball decisions could come immediately after Thanksgiving. Crane was addressing a question about structuring the baseball side of the operation. Cutting to the chase, the fate of general manager Ed Wade as well as President of Baseball Operations Tal Smith may be decided in a matter of days. It should soon be clear if Crane and CEO George Postolos plan to retain the current management team or if the club will go in a completely new direction. READ MORE Felipe Paulino = Clint Barmes = ???? - Brian McTaggart (yes, him again) is reporting that Clint Barmes has agreed to a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. This marks the likely end of the Ronny Cedeno era at PNC Park. However, more importantly for the Farmstros Village, due to the fact that Barmes is a Type B free agent, it means the Astros will get an additional compensatory pick in the 2012 draft if Barmes signs by Wednesday. The pick would fall between the first and second rounds. READ MORE

READ MORE TP vows to finish season in France if NBA season canceled - Spurs guard Tony Parker is sounding more like a businessman the longer he stays with ASVEL Villeurbonne. Parker told Basketactu.com that he will remain playing with his French team for the rest of the season if the NBA is canceled because of the lockout. And he also plans to make a bid for French forward Boris Diaw if the lockout continues. Diaw hasn’t chosen to go overseas, but has hinted he might join Parker if the season is wiped out. READ MORE Randolph, Scola compete in NBA charity game - Zach Randolph, DeAndre Jordan and Luis Scola were among the top players who dazzled NBA-starved fans in a charity celebrity game in Houston pulled together by former player and coach John Lucas. But former player Mike James, also a minister, summed up the issue looming on everybody's mind in his pre-game invocation Sunday. "I pray you will unlock the lockout, in Jesus' name," James said, to laughter. "Amen." NBA players are taking game opportunities where they can, with the lockout into its fifth month and no end in sight. The players at Lucas' game say they're stressing patience and remain supportive behind union leaders who rejected the league's latest proposal for a new labor deal. "I'm not too optimistic, I'm not too pessimistic," said Houston point guard Kyle Lowry, the Rockets' player representative. "We're all together, we're all in this together. We've missed checks, and we're going to miss checks. But we have to get a fair deal." READ MORE
