Parker enters Utah’s crosshairs - The Utah Jazz flew home to Salt Lake City after their 106-91 Game 1 loss in San Antonio on Sunday, preferring to lick their wounds and make their adjustments in their own gym. They will return Tuesday afternoon, in advance of Game 2 on Wednesday at the AT&T Center. Somewhere during the 4,500-mile round trip, Utah coach Tyrone Corbin must hope to find a way to slow Spurs point guard Tony Parker, who torched the Jazz in Game 1. Stephen Jackson has one suggestion. Jazz point guard Devin Harris has another. “Maybe give him a hard foul or two,” Harris told reporters in Utah on Monday. That isn’t exactly a novel approach. Erick Dampier, then with Dallas, advised the same tactic after Parker went for 38 against the Mavericks in a 2009 series. At any rate, Jazz players aren’t expecting the solution to the Parker problem to come to them as easily as a bag of complimentary airline peanuts. Parker has been a load for most opponent this season, the best of his professional career. In Game 1, Parker had 28 points and eight assists, and practically picked up his mail in the paint. Rockets’ season ends, Dragic: Will he stay or will he go? - The Houston Rockets finish the NBA season with an 84-77 win against the New Orleans Hornets Thursday night putting them at a 34-32 record for the year. “There’s no way we shouldn’t be in the playoffs this weekend but we’re not,” head coach Kevin McHale said after the Rockets last game of the season. The team was in the race for the last spot in the playoffs with three games left to play, but a six-game losing streak knocked the Rockets out of the race. The Rockets shot a season-low 35 percent and overcame a 17-point deficit to win Thursday night. It took holding the Hornets to 39 percent from the field and to a franchise-low six points in the fourth quarter. READ MORE

Jays skipper wowed by Yu Darvish's 'outstanding' night: He's as advertised - Yu Darvish acknowledged it felt strange to face the Blue Jays. That didn't stop him from shutting down their lineup. Darvish won his third straight start, Mitch Moreland and Craig Gentry homered and the Texas Rangers beat Toronto 4-1 on Monday night. Pitching against a Blue Jays team that reportedly pursued him when his rights went up for auction last December made Darvish (4-0) a little uneasy as he took the mound. "Honestly, it was kind of an awkward feeling because rumor has it that this was a team that might have posted for me and there was some chance that I might have played for this team," Darvish said through a translator. "Facing the Blue Jays, they could have been my teammates." READ MORE
Downs hits 2-run HR to help Astros edge Mets - Jordan Schafer has reached base safely in every game for the Houston Astros this season. More special than that is what the leadoff hitter can do once he's on base. Schafer had two hits and scored twice, including the go-ahead run on a single by Jed Lowrie in the eighth inning to help the Astros to a 4-3 win over the New York Mets on Monday night. Matt Downs had a two-run homer in the sixth inning as the Astros started a nine-game homestand. The game was tied 3-all when Schafer reached on an infield single to start the eighth. He stole second with one out and scored on the hit by Lowrie off reliever Manny Acosta (0-2). READ MORE

Undrafted Keenum lands at home in Houston - Case Keenum always has the right perspective. So rather than displaying annoyance with not being drafted, Keenum is taking delight in the fact that he's getting his shot in the NFL and getting it with the team he fantasized about joining. The Texans will sign Keenum, the former University of Houston star and college football's all-time leading passer, as an undrafted free agent. READ MORE
