Spurs' Tiago Splitter very solid against USA - Spurs C Tiago Splitter had 13 points, nine rebounds, three assists two steals and a block in Brazil's 70-68 loss to Team USA on Monday. It was Splitter's first game against a team of NBA players and he handled himself very well. We didn't see much in terms of post moves, but he has nimble feet and can defend at the NBA level right away. He's still only 25 and will improve rapidly as he gets used to top-flight competition. Cavs' Williams anticipates 'emotional' homecoming for LeBron - Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Mo Williams said he expected LeBron James' first game back in Cleveland to be "emotional." James, who spurned the Cavaliers to sign with the Miami Heat as a free agent, will be facing his former teammates on Dec. 2. Nuggets VP will soon meet with Carmelo - Nuggets vice president Masai Ujiri re-iterated on Tuesday that he intends to soon meet with Carmelo Anthony. "I'll wait and talk to Melo," said Ujiri. "I think so far things have been positive. There's been a lot of speculation ... but until he tells me that [he wants to be traded], we want him back, the city wants him back, ownership wants him back." Heat sign former West Virginia star Butler - The Miami Heat signed former West Virginia star Da'Sean Butler to a contract on Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 42nd pick of the 2010 draft, Butler averaged 17.2 points during his senior season with the Mountaineers. Lee ends awful August with another poor start - Cliff Lee allowed seven runs -- four earned -- in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday as the Rangers lost to the Royals. The left-hander has allowed 27 earned runs in his last five starts. He ends August with a 1-4 record and 6.35 ERA in seven outings. Lee will be given an extra day off before his next start, rest he could certainly use at this point. Berkman (ankle) to be activated Wednesday - Lance Berkman (ankle) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Wednesday. Berkman went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in his second minor league rehab game with Double-A Trenton on Tuesday night. Though Bryant insisted once again that he will play in Thursday's preseason finale, coach Wade Phillips still isn't ready to confirm. The Cowboys would like to see him play a series with the first-team offense, but they've already decided to bench most of the starters for the finale.
