Jason Kidd doesn't have much left but 'everything he does is still positive for this organization' - The Dallas Morning News writer Eddie Sefko chatted with fans on Tuesday and answered questions about the Mavericks and the start of the season. Here are some highlights: A realistic trade target: Gilbert Arenas. Do you think he would add anything positive to the team or would he be a bigger headache than he's worth? The only thing he would add is about $50 million to the payroll. No thank you. You can't have everything. If you want Roddy B. to get a fair shake when it comes to being this team's shooting/point guard of the future, you can't keep devising ways to delay his development. And please, don't bring Monta Ellis up, either. READ MORE

Astros are on the right path for future - Decision to go young will pay dividends, but also take time. Even by the Astros' slow-starting standards of recent years, Houston's 26-45 record on the morning of June 23 stood out as ugly. It was also the best thing that could have happened to the club. That painful beginning to the 2010 season allowed general manager Ed Wade to do what the 'Stros ought to have done years earlier: blow things up and start playing the kids. Two of the greatest players in franchise history -- Roy Oswalt and Lance Berkman -- were dealt in separate July trades. It hurt, but it was the right way to go. READ MORE

Kubiak explains late-game strategy - "On their last drive against the Jets, the Texans ran Arian Foster three times and settled for Neil Rackers' 22-yard field goal and a 27-23 lead with 55 seconds left. Had they tried to pass for a touchdown, an incompletion would have stopped the clock. "We want to score a touchdown every time we run a play," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We're trying to make sure we stay inbounds. The goal was to make them use their timeouts. The other goal, obviously, is if we can score, we want to score. "I think we did everything we possibly wanted to do there other than the fact we didn't score a touchdown. We made them use their timeouts. We gave them the ball back with 49 seconds. We're up by four. READ MORE
