Parker helps Spurs beat Rockets in overtime - Tony Parker hit four free throws late in overtime to help the San Antonio Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 101-95 on Wednesday night. Parker scored 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting to lead the Spurs. Tim Duncan had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Kawhi Leonard added 11 points. Kyle Lowry scored 22 points for Houston, and Luis Scola had 20. Kevin Martin added 18, and Patrick Patterson had 10 points and seven rebounds. After Parker's free throws gave San Antonio a 98-95 lead with 22 seconds left, Chandler Parsons and Kyle Lowry missed point-blank shots. The Spurs (7-4) hit three of four free throws -- one by Leonard and two by Parker -- to hold off the Rockets (3-7). READ MORE Spurs 101, Rockets 95 / OT - Tony Parker hit for a game-high 28 points and Tim Duncan added 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Spurs to an emotional 101-95 overtime victory over Houston Wednesday night at the AT&T Center. Only a night after being ripped for their defensive effort at Milwaukee, the Spurs (7-4) won the game with some vintage work on that end in the extra period. The Rockets were limited to only five points in overtime. Houston (3-7) was led by Kyle Lowry with 22 points and Luis Scola with 20. It was the Rockets’ fifth loss in their last six games. READ MORE Rapid Reaction: Mavs 90, Celtics 85 - How it happened: After struggling most of the night, Dirk Nowitzki delivered when it mattered most. The Dallas Mavericks had allowed a 13-point second-half lead to melt away when Nowitzki got the ball with about 10 seconds to go at the 3-point line, just right of the top of the arc. After facing up against Kevin Garnett's physical defense, Nowitzki drove hard to his right and went right to the rack, making an and-1 layup despite being knocked down by Brandon Bass and Garnett. He made the free throw, giving the Mavs a three-point lead and Nowitzki 16 points on the night. That, along with some stingy defense in the final seconds, prevented the Boston Celtics from pulling off a comeback. READ MORE Mavs coach Carlisle ejected vs. Celtics - Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was ejected Wednesday night against Boston after picking up back-to-back technical fouls in the third quarter. Carlisle was tossed when he ran down the sideline, over midcourt, to complain to the officials. READ MORE Amid distractions, Delonte West stays steady - Whatever baggage Delonte West dragged with him to the Dallas Mavericks, no matter the Twitter rants he may unleash and regardless of the strange twists that pop up such as Monday's banned/not-banned White House situation, nothing has stopped the intriguing, tattooed guard from delivering steadying performances. READ MORE Rockets lose to Spurs in OT by free throws - Tony Parker hit four free throws late in overtime to help the San Antonio Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 101-95 on Wednesday night. READ MORE Rapid reaction: San Antonio Spurs 101, Houston Rockets 95 (OT) - Five Things We Saw: Wooo. Rockets fans got to see a close game, which is great, even if it resulted in yet another road loss, the team’s sixth of the year, which is miserable. Overtime was sort of miserable offensively (first points were scored by Duncan at the 2:41 mark on a free throw, after he had just missed three consecutive ones at the charity stripe), but it’s always nice to see some meaningful basketball, even when the faithful Rockets red have to walk away sighing. For the first time against a team in what seems like ages, the Houston Rockets started a game off well Wednesday night, dropping in 27 in the first quarter to lead the Spurs by four. Houston shot 65% in that first quarter, including Scola’s aforementioned 14 points on 7-10 shooting. READ MORE Game 10 Recap: Parker Proves Too Much For Rockets As Spurs Steal 101-96 OT Win - Give the San Antonio Spurs credit for getting the most out of their greatest asset: Defense. The Spurs -- unable to rely on Tim Duncan for much of anything down the stretch -- put the clamps on the Rockets when it mattered most and emerged with a 101-95 victory. They forced Houston to take silly shots down the stretch, perhaps a byproduct of a young Rockets team playing its collective heart out. Sometimes to squeeze out a win, blissful youth and exuberance are a necessary requirement. The Rockets got that from Kyle Lowry, a fight-til-the-end, do-or-die effort worthy of praise. The two step-back three-pointers proved valuable, too. READ MORE

Houston Texans team report: Defense will take its chances with Flacco - If they want to slow the Baltimore Ravens’ offense, the Houston Texans know they must start with running back Ray Rice.Even though Rice played eight games against defenses that were among the NFL's top eight during the regular season, he led the league with 2,068 yards from scrimmage, including 1,364 rushing.Rice ran for 101 yards in the Ravens’ 29-14 victory over the Texans in October. They know they must keep him from getting free beyond the line of scrimmage and breaking a long run.The Texans must get penetration, hit him in the backfield and disrupt his timing. They want him to change direction and try to run him into a crowd of tacklers. And they can’t miss when they get to him. READ MORE 2012 Dallas Cowboys Free Agent Safety Primer: Limited Options - The Cowboys have signed Gerald Sensabaugh to a contract extension, but have not renewed Abram Elam's contract, making Elam a free agent. The Cowboys still have Danny McCray and Barry Church on the roster, but as rabblerousr wrote, those two "are probably career special teamers (albeit darned good ones)." And recent practice squad signee Justin Taplin-Ross probably isn't the long-term answer at safety either. READ MORE Tom Ciskowski stays in Dallas - It was reported this morning the Indianapolis Colts hired Ryan Grigson as the general manager.Tom Ciskowski, the Cowboys assistant director of player personnel, interviewed for the Colts vacant GM job last weekend. The indications are the interview went well for Ciskowski but it's evident the Colts wanted somebody else. READ MORE
Dallas Stars also bummed about delay in NHL realignment - This should be a good time for Dallas Stars fans. The murky ownership situation is stabilized after a stint in bankruptcy. Ticket prices were slashed. And led by blossoming forward Jamie Benn, the Stars are even in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race and are jostling for a postseason berth for the first time in four seasons. READ MORE
