)The Big 3 are under contract next year and it's reasonable to assume that they all will be here with the slight possibility of moving Parker because he is in a last year of a contract.(Why would you though because you won't get equal value for whatever you get back.)Also...It would be much better for both the Spurs and Tony if he, like Manu, chooses to not represent his country in the upcoming worlds.2)Pop ain't going anywhere either. As Vice-President of Basketball Operations, he holds full control over any and all basketball decisions. Peter Holt is the only guy on the chain that can get rid of Pop and he doesn't think that that is needed. I totally agree. I almost think that this season might be looked upon as one of Pop's best. Definitely not in terms of results but in dealing with the multiplicity of injuries, integration of new players, and accepting of all the mistakes made because of those 2 main factors, I give Pop 2 thumbs up.
)I know there are many still here and elsewhere that remember when the Spurs DID NOT have a title. After tonight's disappointing loss, I can enjoy my mojito and reminisce of what the team I back has accomplished. I better have 2 mojitos, because sometimes I still get pissed but mostly... I reminisce.
)Okay, the Spurs need an interior big with size AND length. I await to see if the Front Office can bring Tiago Splitter in. It's imperative that the Spurs get DeJuan Blair some post moves and lots and lots of film of all-time greats who, despite the same size limitations, succeeded. DeJuan is a heavy twitter user. Someone keep sending him YouTube clips of guys like Wes Unseld. In fact, tell him to set up a meeting with Wes Unseld to learn first-hand how to play and get spacing despite being undersized. I'm 50-50 on Matt Bonner. Offensively, he's okay. But defensively, he hedges far too much.
)They also need a new Bowen. George Hill isn't it. He can be in stretches, but he ain't Bowen. Same for Richard Jefferson. He has the size and in fact, more athletic ability that Bruce ever had. He lacks the mentality and the smarts though. I like RJ but I just don't know if he'll really fit in if he can't play the serious type of defense that Bruce provided. I don't think he'll ever be able to do that. I'm hoping as I look on the list of players who are available, that the Spurs can bring one in, but there doesn't seem to be any on the list I see. I'm open to suggestions.
The off-season will be an interesting one. This organization has a commitment to excellence and they do have some tricks in their sleeve. Some we know about, others we have no idea but whatever happens. I'm a Spurs fan to the core.
