Rockets re-introduced - Luis Scola and Kyle Lowry were officially re-introduced as Rockets players Wednesday at Toyota Center during an afternoon press conference.

Spurs re-sign Jefferson - Richard Jefferson opted out of his contract and in return  agreed to sign a 4 year contract worth $8 million dollars a season with the final year not fully guaranteed.  This saves the Spurs $10 million dollars in luxury taxes.

Neal signs with Spurs - Gary Neal signed a three year guaranteed contract with the San Antonio Spurs his agent David Bauman confirms to us.

Hornets hire former Spurs VP Demps as GM - The New Orleans Hornets have opted to entrust their immediate future -- and their ability to convince star guard Chris Paul to stay in town in two years -- to a rookie braintrust, after agreeing to terms Tuesday with San Antonio Spurs vice president Dell Demps to become their new general manager.

Amar'e to miss World Championships due to contract - Amare Stoudemire will not play for the United States in next month's world championships because of problems insuring his contract, a damaging blow to the Americans on the day training camp opened.

Warriors sign Asian-American guard from Harvard - Jeremy Lin took a seat in a small room in front of an array of television crews, photographers and print media on Wednesday afternoon. He'd never seen anything like that at Harvard. ''This is unbelievable,'' Lin said after the Golden State Warriors signed the undrafted free agent guard. Astros rally to force extra innings - Pedro Feliz's eighth-inning homer got the game to extra innings , setting up Jason Michaels' go-ahead double in the 12th, and the Astros held off a rally to top the Cubs, 4-3, on Wednesday.

Astros shoot down recent Oswalt trade rumor - With recent reports having the Astros negotiating a three-team deal that included ace righty Roy Oswalt, club owner Drayton McLane said Wednesday that no trades were imminent.

Cowboys are second most valuable franchise in the world - Manchester United is still the most valuable franchise in all of sports, but the Dallas Cowboys aren't far behind.  Forbes released its list of the world's most valuable teams Wednesday, with the English Premier League club leading the way at $1.84 billion. The top American franchise, the Dallas Cowboys, was second at $1.65 billion. The New York Yankees, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, Real Madrid, New York Giants, Arsenal, New York Jets and Houston Texans round out the top 10.

Jerry Jones reminds 'top talent' Cowboys that it's Super Bowl or bust - For the Dallas Cowboys, the road home could lead to the next Super Bowl. Since the end of last season, and even before that, Jerry Jones has constantly reminded his Cowboys that Super Bowl XLV will be played at their own stadium in February. "Our owner lets us know the game is at Cowboys Stadium and he would love his team to play in it," Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. "We are doing everything we can get to get there."
