Spurs sign Draft pick - The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have signed James Anderson. The Spurs drafted Anderson with 20th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Cavs make first post-LeBron signing - The Cleveland Cavaliers have added their first player since LeBron James left as a free agent, signing swingman Christian Eyenga. The Cavs selected Eyenga in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2009 draft, but the 21-year-old played in Spain last season to develop his skills.

Report: Kurt Thomas to join Bulls - A person familiar with the negotiations says veteran forward Kurt Thomas has agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago Bulls. — AP

Report: Barnes agrees to deal with Lakers - Free-agent forward Matt Barnes has agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers

Heat keep filling roster, re-sign Arroyo - Carlos Arroyo has finalized his deal to return to the Miami Heat. Arroyo appeared in 72 games and made 35 starts at point guard for Miami last season, then decided to return to the club after a brief stint as a free agent.


Rangers Success adds to FSSW Ratings Success - The Rangers success on the field has translated to the ratings. Thursday night's game against the arch-rival Angels earned a 5.9 rating, not quite the 6.1 the Rangers earned for a May, 2004 game but plenty good enough to win the night for Fox Sports Southwest in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

A-Rod getting ready for #600 - Alex Rodriguez hit his 599th career home run last night, and given that he's facing Royals pitchers this weekend, he should get number 600 before Monday.

Rangers beat Angels 1-0, West lead now 7 - This was the Rangers fourth shut out, while the Angels were shut out for the third time this season.

 

Browns, McCoy agree to four-year, $5 Million contract - The Cleveland Browns and quarterback Colt McCoy have agreed to a four-year, $5 million deal. The Browns locked down the deal one day before all rookies are supposed to report to training camp.

Cowboys, Lee agree on terms of contract - Sean Lee received a four-year deal with $1.7 million guaranteed, which means all of the rookies will be on the practice field on Saturday.

Cowboys sign Moore - The Cowboys added outside linebacker Jay Moore and cut wide receiver Verran Tucker, who signed in April as an undrafted free agent.

Big 12 preseason player honors go to Texas A&M Aggies - Texas A&M's Jerrod Johnson was named the Offensive Player of the Year as the Big 12 Conference announced its preseason All-Big 12 team as selected by media members who cover the league. The senior quarterback already has his degree in kinesiology but returns for a final season that has Texas A&M at home to Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Longhorns to open two football practices - Two open football practices have been scheduled by Texas. The practices will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12 at Royal-Memorial Stadium.
