Texas Spring Football: Quarterback Battle Continues - While most of the buzz around spring practice for the Longhorns this year centers around the new coaching staff and developing drinking games for how many times Mack Brown uses the words "excitement" and "energy" during interview, there's also a pretty significant position battle taking place on the 40 Acres.  Yes, that would be the quarterback position. You know, the position Colt McCoy and Vince Young played at Texas. No pressure there.  The competition may be open, but even when there isn't a depth chart, someone still has to take the first snap in practice and start out with the ones. In response to that conundrum, the coaching staff developed what it calls "a pecking order." So there ya go -- Garrett Gilbert, Connor Wood, Case McCoy, and David Ash aren't fighting to be the starting quarterback at the University of Texas, they're fighting to become the top chicken in the courtyard.   READ MORE

Tough way to see it end - One is never going to find a better batch of guys than the UNT seniors who saw their hopes of heading back to the NCAA tournament come to an end tonight.  And I'm talking about them both as players and as people.  That's why it has to be tough for UNT fans to see them let an opportunity to put away Arkansas-Little Rock get away tonight.  UNT nearly had it wrapped up when it had a seven-point lead with 1:42 left. All it had to do was not turn the ball over, not foul and hit free throws.  That's what one has come to expect from UNT's guys.   READ MORE
