Thunder beat Spurs to win 3rd in 3 nights - Kevin Durant had 21 points and 10 rebounds, reserve James Harden scored 20 and the Oklahoma City Thunder became the first NBA team to win three games on consecutive nights this season by beating the San Antonio Spurs 108-96 Sunday.   READ MORE

Jefferson, Green provide special sparks - Denver point guard Ty Lawson, 5-foot-11 with a head of steam, was loose in the open floor, the one place no opposing team wants to see him loose, and T.J. Ford knew what was coming.  “I thought it was going to be a dunk,” the Spurs' backup point guard said Saturday.   READ MORE

Spurs are 6-3 - The road sucks. Home is so safe and warm and full of open jumpers. The funny thing is that I don’t think we played poorly. The difference in this game was the difference between a young Kevin Durant and an old Tim Duncan. It was the difference between a Danny Green-led fast break and a KD-to-Westbrook one. OKC is younger, more talented, and at home. It didn’t matter that they were on their third in three, and we on our second in two (including fifth in seven days).   READ MORE

Mavs win 4th straight at home, 96-81 over Hornets - Vince Carter and Ian Mahinmi had 13 points each to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 96-81 victory over New Orleans on Saturday to hand the depleted Hornets their sixth consecutive loss.   READ MORE

Mavericks’ Delonte West: ‘I’m banned from going to the White House’ - The Dallas Mavericks have earned themselves a visit to the White House on Monday, as each of the 2011 champions will be awarded a meeting with President Barack Obama, along with new editions to the 2011-12 Mavs outfit. All save for one Maverick, oft-troubled off guard Delonte West.   READ MORE

Jason Kidd to miss Mavs' road trip - Point guard Jason Kidd sat out Saturday's 96-81 win against the New Orleans Hornets, and he will miss at least the Dallas Mavericks' two-game road trip that starts Tuesday with a lower back injury, coach Rick Carlisle said Saturday night. "We don't believe it's a real serious thing," Carlisle said before the game. "But we're going to err on the side of caution with it."   READ MORE

Rockets shuffle the lineup. Are more changes coming? - Had Kevin McHale changed his rotation because, well, why not, that would have been a good enough reason. After consecutive blowout losses, it was time for a change.   READ MORE

Dragic gets start at point guard - With guard Kyle Lowry out for a second consecutive game Saturday with a bruised right foot, Goran Dragic started but failed to extend his streak of double-doubles when starting. Dragic had finished last season with three consecutive double-doubles, also getting seven assists in the first two of those games before collecting his first career triple-double with 11 points, assists and rebounds in the finale.   READ MORE

Budinger adjusts to role off bench - Though Kevin McHale on Saturday made his first change to his starting five not forced by injury to help the starting five, he also hoped the move would get more scoring from his bench, and particularly a player moved to the second unit. As a starting forward, Chase Budinger had often been waiting in the corner and settling for 3-pointers. McHale said by having Budinger play off the bench, he could be more assertive.   READ MORE

Kinsler price going up - The Texas Rangers want to work out another multi-year contract extension with second baseman Ian Kinsler. His price went up on Saturday night when the Los Angeles Angels and second baseman Howard Kendrick agreed to a four-year extension worth $33.5 million.   READ MORE

Sunday a.m. Rangers stuff - Gerry Fraley writes that the Howie Kendrick extension -- 4 years, $33.5 million -- is going to raise the price for an Ian Kinsler extension. I don't think so, personally...Fraley points out that Kinsler is making $7 million in 2012, and Kendrick (who is a lesser player) will be making $8.375 million per year in his new deal, but I don't think anyone thought that Kinsler was going to sign an extension for $7 million per year, or even $8.375 million per year, going forward.   READ MORE

Bagwell likely to fall short in Hall of Fame voting despite being worthy of call - Astros icon Jeff Bagwell would like nothing more than to be enshrined in Cooperstown, as the 2012 inductees to the National Baseball Hall of Fame will be announced Monday afternoon. Bagwell, a four-time All-Star first baseman and the 1994 NL MVP, received 41.7 percent of the vote in what was his first year of eligibility in 2011 -- falling short of the necessary 75 percent for induction.   READ MORE

For 2012 Astros, the crawl, walk, run philosophy is in full play - The 2012 Astros’ season is not about wins and losses. It’s about building the foundation and restoring stability. That will eventually result in more wins than losses, but the fruit may not be evident until 2013.   READ MORE

Phillips will interview with Buccaneers for head coach job - After helping the Texans make one of the most remarkable defensive turnarounds in NFL history, Wade Phillips is getting another chance to become a head coach. Phillips will interview with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday in Houston.   READ MORE

What the Texans need to do to beat the Ravens - So, of course, with the Texans heading to Baltimore for the AFC divisional matchup next week, our online sports editor hit me up with the idea of doing a “12 Reasons the Texans will beat the Ravens” entry. (No, I don’t know what he was smoking.)   READ MORE

Texans takeaway Bengals last chances - The reports during the NBC broadcast of Pacman Jones acting up on the sideline after getting burned by Andre Johnson were not a surprise.  Earlier in the week, Jones pretty much said that A.J. Green was a better receiver than Andre Johnson and Johnson responded by taking Jones to school on his TD pass reception at the end of the third quarter.   READ MORE

Rumor: Dallas Cowboys trade Terence Newman for Used Toaster Oven - Unconfirmed rumors coming out of Valley Ranch this morning are reporting the possible trade of Dallas Cowboy cornerback Terence Newman. The trade would send the nine year veteran about 100 miles southeast of Dallas to the little town on Canton, TX. In exchange, the Cowboys’ franchise would receive a used 1985 Proctor-Silex Toaster Oven, described to be in good to decent condition.   READ MORE

The New General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys is a GENIUS - Well, that was f***in’ disappointing. I refuse to wax poetic to explain the failures of our beloved Cowboys. You all know EXACTLY why I believe this team was susceptible to this type of failure. So with that in mind, let me allow my GENIUS brain to tell Jerry Jones exactly how to fix this mess (at least temporarily).   READ MORE

Dallas Cowboys News And Notes - The NFL playoffs are up and running. The Houston Texans notched their first playoff win, and the New Orleans Saints gave notice that the Green Bay Packers may not be a shoo in. But Dallas Cowboys fans are already focused on next season, so here is a look at some news from the past few days about our favorite team.   READ MORE

Stars’ Dynamic Duo Fine with Underrated Tag - Labels can often be a funny thing, especially in the world of sports. Stars fans have realized the true greatness of Jamie Benn for the last two seasons and have also become enamored with the on-ice exploits of winger Loui Eriksson, a 2011 NHL All-Star. So, at least in the eyes of local hockey fans, there is no way the moniker of underrated could ever be affixed to this Dallas dynamic duo. But many around the league haven’t quite discovered how great Benn and Eriksson are.   READ MORE

Dallas Stars Spare Change: Benn Brothers and Barch's "Slur" - All in all, the Dallas Stars have had a pretty successful week, overcoming defensive shortfalls and mounting injuries to come away with a handful of impressive wins against the Nashville Predators, Edmonton Oilers, and the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. Sandwiched between those wins was a loss to the hated Detroit Red Wings that wasn't over until the final buzzer, despite the best efforts of Henrik Zetterberg and the Detroit offense.   READ MORE
